Labour has called for an “inverse OPEC”, an alliance of countries that could supply green energy.
Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer called for countries to exchange information and investment in a ‘Clean Power Alliance’ to counter the influence of OPEC, and use the combined power to reduce, rather than maintain, price levels.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Starmer also vowed not to allow new investment for oil and gas in the North Sea.
