Housebuilder’s foundation offers £100,000 to support young peoples’ employability

Persimmon Charitable Foundation is offering two grants of £50,000 to charities running projects helping young people find work.

This latest round of funding launches this week and is available for projects that support the employability of young people aged 14 to 25 in areas of economic and social deprivation. The deadline is Sunday, June 22 and successful applicants will be notified in August.

“We are focusing on projects that support employability among 14 to 25-year-olds to attract applications from charities whose objectives align with our own,” said Foundation chair Anthony Vigor.

“The successful applicants will be working with young people to support them in their education, or into training or work.”

A previous round of funding launched in March this year and awarded two £50,000 grants to support young people’s employability. This received more than 800 applications.

One of these grants was handed to Thanet Community Development Trust in Kent for its project helping people to obtain the qualifications needed to work in construction.

A second donation was made to Bothwell Futures in South Lanarkshire to fund an employability programme for young people who have become disengaged with education, or are leaving school with no positive career destination, into work.
