East Midlands based bakery Birds Bakery has named Brains Trust as its charity of the year.

The firm runs 62 bakeries across the region and has selected the charity, which supports people with brain cancer, as a member of its staff has a family member with the condition.

Through the link up there will be Brains Trust collecting tins in each bakery and other fundraising activities planned.

“The charity was chosen because a colleague has a family member who is suffering with brain cancer, so we wanted to be able to show our support to them and the trust,” said Birds Bakery.

“By working with a small charity, we hope to raise awareness in the community so they can support them too.
