VW converts over to electric

VW has said that the company intends to convert production at its Emden and Hanover factories to electric vehicles by 2022.

CEO Dr Herbert Diess: explained: “Volkswagen is implementing its electric offensive consistently. We are orienting the company towards clean mobility. This way, we are also ensuring sustainable prospects for the future of the two plants.”

VW currently produces electric vehicles at its Zwickau plant, but the addition of two more demonstrates the company’s desire to move away from the diesel scandal that has dogged its image.

In 2017, the total number of vehicles supplied to customers by the Group globally was 10,741 million.
