Cycle ride organised by engineering contractor’s charitable arm raises £41,000

A 300-mile charity bike ride from Bilbao to Madrid organised by O’Brien Charitable Trust has raised £41,000 for good causes in Warwickshire.

This ride took place earlier this month and is the third annual charity bike ride organised by the Trust, which is the charitable arm of Midlands based engineering contractor O’Brien.

A group of 14 riders took part from O’Brien Contractors, BAM Construction, PACT, Hortons Estate, Bates Carpentry Contractors, Plantforce, Latus Group, Charles Rose Properties, and Canary Wharf Group.

Over the last nine years the Trust has raised more than £500,000 for good causes and is set to raise a total of £75,000 during 2026, its most successful fundraising year to date.

“This year’s ride has certainly been our most challenging and rewarding to date,” said O’Brien Contractors director Tom O’Brien.

“After convincing 13 of my closest friends and colleagues to take on the impossible, I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved.

“Our target was to raise £20,000, and it is safe to say we surpassed that in style. Despite the long days and less than ideal weather conditions, we were sure to remember why we took on the challenge: to raise money in support of some of our county’s small yet mighty charities.

“£41,000 is something I could have never predicted, and with any luck, this is set to be our most successful fundraising year ever. Thank you to every single person and organisation for your time, efforts and overall commitment in helping us achieve this incredible result.”
