Greene King and Coca-Cola pair up to counter drink driving

Over one thousand Greene King pubs taking part in a Christmas anti-drink drive campaign with Coca-Cola, offering nominated drivers free soft drinks.

According to the Department for Transport, the estimated number of reported drink drive related accidents in Great Britain since 1979 has fallen by 69 per cent, with recent figures of 6,070 compared to 19,470. This is despite an increase in road traffic from approximately 400 billion kilometres per annum to 700 billion in the same period.

Greene King’s chief commercial officer, Phil Thomas, said: “As a leading pub company, we have an important role to play in helping to promote responsible drinking. Once again, our pubs up and down the country are offering free soft drinks during Christmas as we enter almost a decade of the Designated Driver Campaign with Coca-Cola.”

This is now the ninth year that Greene King has offered the service, and it is promoting the scheme across brands including Hungry Horse, Farmhouse Inns, Chef & Brewer and the Greene King Local Pubs estate.
