Poland to issue third bond

The FT has reported that Poland is issuing a third green bond, making it the most frequent sovereign issuer of debt in green finance.

Poland was the first nation to offer ‘green debt’ three years ago, and again last year, and by offering several green bonds, Poland will be able to offer a range of bond maturities for investors.

This bond issue is set to raise €1.5bn of 10-year debt and €500m of 30-year debt.

The world is, however, a complex place, and whilst Poland might appear at the vanguard of environmental finance, the country is also heavily dependent upon coal for its energy needs.
