Global consultancy raises £200k for good causes in a year

Cambridge Management Consulting raised more than £200,000 for good causes last year as part of its commitment to donate at least a tenth of its profits.

Charities, groups and schools benefiting focus on its five priority areas of supporting children, conservation, tackling cancer, communications and local good causes near to the company’s offices.

It also holds 1% of its equity in reserve for charitable use should an equity event occur.

Additionally last year its staff donated a further 290 volunteer days to charities, estimated to be worth £400,000 in combined time and value.

Over the last decade the firm, which has 200 consultants across 25 countries, has raised £1m for good causes.

Charitable work last year includes sponsoring Cambridge City FC Girls U12 Youth team, helping young children via Surf for Lives in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa; and funding expeditions for young people through the British Exploring Society.

It has also carried pro-bono work for charities, including building a website for bereavement charity Sands.

“Cambridge Management Consulting has kindly supported Sands both financially and with pro bono assistance, for example building us a new website for the National Bereavement Care Pathway which is being rolled out across the NHS in the UK,” said the charity’s chief executive Clea Harmer.

We are deeply grateful for their support in our mission to reduce the number of babies dying and ensure that, when a baby does die, anyone affected gets the support and care they need.”

The firm’s executive chairman Tim Passingham added: “When we started the business in 2015, it was paramount to make giving back a central part of everything we do.

"This is imprinted in our company values, and it makes me immensely proud, as a purpose-led business, to share our social impact over the past year.”
