Hydrogen rises up as an option

A research paper from Gunther Glenk and Stefan Reichelstein published in Nature compares the costs of renewable energies, and notes that the sharp decline in the cost of renewable energy suggests that the production of hydrogen from renewable power through a power-to-gas process might be becoming more economical and inline, if not cheaper, than alternatives. As hydrogen has potential as an efficient energy storage medium – most prominently as a fuel for vehicles – the shift in economics could have considerable impact.
