Coca-Cola’s 3m tonnes of plastic

Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s First Global Commitment report reveals details of industry and government efforts to tackle plastic waste and pollution and includes for the first time data from some major companies including Carrefour, Colgate Palmolive, MARS, Incorporated, Nestlé, SC Johnson, The Coca-Cola Company, and Unilever.

Although Coca-Cola has been transparent in revealing its plastics use, the sheer amount of plastic is somewhat shocking, coming in at thee million tonnes.

None-the-less Coca-Cola, along with Pepsi Co and Nestle are now all signed to the Foundation’s Global Commitment that will see them increase recycled content in their packaging to an average of 25 per cent by 2025, and take action to eliminate problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging.
