The role of kindness

A new report argues that investment in artificial intelligence needs to be matched by a focus on emotional intelligence. Although focused on public policy, the report does highlight the need for all operations to be designed to be open, fair and safe, but also respond to emotions and human connection.

Compiled by Carnegie Fellow Julia Unwin CBE, the report raises questions around how regulation, measurement and efficiency can ‘crowd out kindness’ and is based on research carried out by Ipsos MORI Scotland, which surveyed over 1,000 people in each UK jurisdiction.
