Train firm offers customers chance to donate delayed journey payouts to charity

First Group’s Hull Trains is offering customers, who receive a pay out for delays in their journey, the chance to donate the money to its new charity partner P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery.

The Delay Repay scheme is in place across the UK rail network where train companies offer passengers compensation if their journey has been delayed for 15 minutes or more.

To mark its partnership with Hull based P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery the train firm will enable customers to divert their compensation straight to the charity, which supports people with an acquired brain injury across the Humber region.

“The focus and determination that the P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery team have to make a difference to the local community is very inspiring,” said First Rail Open Access managing director Stuart Jones.

“I’m really pleased that we’re able to give our customers an easy way to support the great work they do, by directly donating any Delay Repay funds.

“This is just the start of our partnership with the charity across the year and we look forward to working with them to spread the word about the important work they do.”

P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery was launched by Paul Spence 13 years ago after he suffered a brain haemorrhage following an unprovoked attack.

“We’re over the moon to be Hull Trains’ new annual charity partner for this year,” said Spence.

“This partnership promises to be mutually beneficial, giving Hull Trains staff the opportunity to engage in a range of P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery events and initiatives. We deeply value their support and look forward to working closely with their team.”
