Energy supplier E.ON UK is offering its 9,000 UK staff the chance to dedicate a paid working day each year to support charities, community groups and local causes of their choice.

The offer is through the firm’s volunteering programme The Energy Exchange, which involves Neighbourly, a platform that links businesses with good causes.

“The Energy Exchange empowers our colleagues to support causes they care about while making a meaningful difference in communities across the UK,” said E.ON UK chief people officer Helen Bradbury.

“Whether helping a local charity, supporting a food bank or getting involved in a community project, we're proud to give our people the time and opportunity to create positive change where it's needed most."

Neighbourly chief executive Steve Butterworth added: “When businesses give their people the time to volunteer, everyone benefits.

“Local charities gain extra capacity at a time when many are facing growing demand, while employees can build new skills, strengthen connections and make a tangible difference in the communities around them.
