A dozen charities and good causes have benefited from free use of the Leafe App, which allows users to record their food hygiene and compliance records digitally.
The tech firm has offered a free subscription, worth around £1,000 a year, to the charities and good causes, including Fresh Start Café in Preston, Walton Youth and Community Project and the Food for Thought CIC that provides food-related training courses.
It estimates the dozen charities have been saved £13,000 through the offer in total.
“The impact of Leafe has been instrumental in strengthening our systems, supporting our teams and maintaining the high standards we expect as a charity working in food and hospitality,” said a Fresh Start Café spokesperson.
Leafe App chief executive Samual Chapman added: “The Fresh Start Café is a prime example of the kind of community enterprise that can really benefit from Leafe, and as a result provide even more to the communities it supports - reducing reoffending, tackling food waste and poverty, and supporting people out of homelessness and into employment.
“I am glad to receive such positive feedback from our charity partners, and we look forward to working with them long into the future to keep their kitchens operating smoothly.”
Leafe says its research also shows digital recording of such information can save organisations 40hours of red tape a week and cut down on food waste.
