National League football club names next charity partner

York City FC has named Age UK York as its new charity partner for the 2025/26 season.

The charity for older people is the fourth charity partner for the club, which plays in the fifth tier of English football, and will see a raft of awareness raising and fundraising events take place.

Previous charity events by the club for its partners have included a gala dinner raffle. Each of its charity partners also has its own dedicated fixture for awareness raising at its LNER Community Stadium in the city.

“As long-time fans of YCFC it’s been the highlight of the year to learn that Age UK York has been chosen as one of the official charities for next season,” said the charity’s head of transformation Chris Farrell.

“We’re constantly in awe of the amazing things the people we work with achieve, however sometimes they need a helping hand to do this and that’s where we step in. From information and advice, to walking your dog, to personal care or joining us at a day club, we’re here.

“However, no one can benefit from our support if they don’t know about us, which is why it is so important to be working with York City to raise awareness of our services with YCFC supporters and across the city.

“We believe no one in York needs to face aging alone, and with the support of York City FC we will work together to ensure no one will”.

The charity has been operating in the city for more than 50 years and offers services such as supporting older people in their home when returning from a hospital stay, running social clubs and tackling loneliness through befriending services.
