UK now goes coal less for two weeks

The National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) has confirmed that the UK has managed to go coal less in electricity generation for two weeks and also beaten the record for solar power this month.

On 29 May the energy mix was:

Coal 0 per cent
Nuclear 21.5 per cent
Gas 36.4 per cent
Wind 5.9 per cent
Solar 14.7 per cent
Hydro 0.2 per cent
Biomass 8.3 per cent
Import 13.1 per cent
