Five small charities are to share grants totalling £70,000 being made available from online job search firm CharityJob and its sister website CharityConnect
More than 1,000 applications were received from charities, who all have 50 or fewer staff members and an income of less than £1m a year.
The five awards are for between £10,000 and £25,000.
Those benefiting include Warwickshire Pride, which offers services and runs events for the LGBTQ+ community across the county.
Another is The Separated Child Foundation, which offers support to young asylum seekers people who have been separated from their parents. This includes offering welcome packs of toiletries and clothes when they arrive in the UK.
Also receiving grants is Dragonfly Cancer Trust, Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care and mental health support organisation Cradle Charity.
“Each of these charities, like so many, need support, but what was evident to us in the decision-making process was that each had a definite plan of what they would do with the funds, with very clear, tangible results as an outcome,” said Raya Wexler, co-founder of CharityJob and CharityConnect.
“It was important for us to know the impact of our donation and we're very happy it will go toward helping so many people.”
She added: “Given the challenging mix of economic pressures - such as the cost of living crisis, higher National Insurance costs, and wider global instability - which always lead to a drop in public donations, it’s no wonder that many charities are facing serious financial difficulties.
“This is why we feel it’s more important than ever to give back, particularly to smaller charities that are more susceptible to economic pressures and less equipped to weather crises.”
