Derbyshire County Cricket Club has formed a partnership with Treetops Hospice, which delivers end of life care to families in the county.
The link up will see Treetops sponsor the women’s team’s ‘batter of the year’ Lara Shaw for two seasons.
The charity will also be advertised at the club’s ground.
Treetops relationships manager Natalie Godrich said: “Derbyshire County Cricket Club is one of the most recognisable and well loved sports organisations in the county, and both of us play such important roles in our local communities in different ways.
“If our partnership helps even one family discover the support available from Treetops at a time when they need us most, then it has achieved exactly what we hoped.”
Shaw added: “I’m incredibly grateful for Treetops’ support. Knowing a local charity believes in me and in the women’s game means a great deal.
“I’m proud to represent Derbyshire and to be linked with an organisation that does so much for families in our county.”
