The Cambridge Building Society has handed a homelessness charity £10,000 to improve its support.
It has been given to Cambridge based Wintercomfort through the building society’s community fund.
Money will be used by the charity to deliver help through its housing support and prevention service and to fund a tenancy support officer to help people who are homeless, vulnerably housed or at risk of losing their accommodation.
“We’re proud to support Wintercomfort and the essential work they do to prevent homelessness in our community,” said the building society’s community engagement specialist Katie Robinson.
“By funding a Tenancy Support Advisor, we are helping people maintain their homes, access vital services, and take steps towards a more stable future."
Open daily throughout the year, Wintercomfort runs a information, advice, training, and support centre in Cambridge.
The charity’s fundraising manager James Holden added: “Wintercomfort supports people with experience of homelessness, those vulnerably housed, and those at risk of homelessness, by offering essential welfare services and opportunities for personal development.
“Our work helps people achieve positive, long-lasting change and realize their potential."

"Many of our service users are distrustful of statutory organisations and would struggle to maintain accommodation without our help. In the last 12 months alone, we’ve supported 800 people.

The charity’s senior tenancy officer Sarah Taylor added: “No two people’s stories are the same, and our outreach service allows people to access support in a way that feels safe and non-judgmental.

"We offer practical help with benefits, grants, employment, and advocacy, and we support people through appointments and challenges with local authorities.
“Often, having a friendly, consistent support person can make all the difference between keeping a home or becoming homeless."
