Firm’s free boiler servicing scheme saves local charities £20,000

Charities and other not for profit organisations across the Northeast have been saved a total of £20,000 following a free gas safety and boiler serving initiative carried out by Pulse Controls, which is based in the region.

The firm said it carried out the initiative, between May and June this year, as “an opportunity to give back to the community”.

“Working with local organisations on their gas safety needs has been incredibly rewarding, and we look forward to helping more charities across the Northeast in the future,” said the firm’s operations manager Bethany Blacklock.

Among those supported through the initiative is housing support community interest company Positive Directions NE. It received free gas safety and boiler checks at around 65 of its properties.

“It has been an absolute pleasure from the outset working with Pulse,” said Positive Directions NE operations manager Courtney Gregory.

Last year research by Social Investment Business found that charities are spending as much as half of their budgets on covering utility bills.

The social investment organisation called for reform of energy pricing and more support to charities to transition to clean power.
