Estate planning firm Octopus Legacy has linked with a charity to offer a free will writing service for the first time.
The partnership with RSPB sees the wildlife charity cover up to £150 of the cost of a will with the aim of boosting legacy gifts, which already make a quarter of its fundraising each year.
“A will is more than just a formality - it’s an opportunity to decide what you want to leave behind,” said Octopus Legacy founder and chief executive Sam Grice.
“Increasingly, people are realising they can shape the future for the causes they care about most through their will, and this partnership is about harnessing that energy and making it simple and easy to include a gift in your will to incredible charities like the RSPB.
“By empowering people to take this first step, we can help ensure that their legacy is able to help the people, places and causes that matter to them most.”
RSPB head of legacy marketing Kate Stevenson added: “We’re excited to be partnering with Octopus Legacy to offer a Free Wills service to our supporters. By making it easier to leave a gift in their will, we’re giving people the chance to help protect and restore nature for generations to come.
“Every gift, no matter the size, makes a real difference - this partnership is about creating more ways for people who care deeply about wildlife to make a lasting impact. We’re thrilled to take this step and look forward to seeing the incredible difference these gifts will make for the places and species we all love.”
