Almost 200 charities to be supported in media firm backed match funding campaign

A group of 194 small charities are to benefit from an inaugural small charities match funding campaign that is to take place in June.

The campaign is run by match funding platform Big Give and backed by Global media firm’s charitable arm Make Some Noise, as well as charity infrastructure body NCVO. The People's Postcode Lottery is also involved.

It runs from the 23rd to the 30th June and will match funds raised by the public for the small charities taking part. Three in four of those taking part have an annual income below £500,000 and a similar proportion are based outside of London.

A total of 846 small charities applied to be part of the campaign, the most of any of the Big Give platform’s campaigns over the last four years.

A total of £900,000 has been pledged by the platform’s funders.

“Through our work supporting small and local charities over the last 11 years, we know the incredible power of these amazing organisations to change lives,” said Suzanne Ryder Richardson, director at Global’s Make Some Noise.

“They’re the driving force behind local change — bringing hope, care, and critical support to those facing some of life’s toughest challenges. Thanks to this partnership, and the generosity of players of People’s Postcode Lottery and our wider community of supporters, we’ll be able to reach even more people across the UK with vital support, amplify the voices of small charities and double the impact of public donations where it matters most.”

Big Give chair James Reed added: “Small charities are the beating heart of our communities - nimble, responsive and deeply trusted. Through this campaign, we’re proud to put them centre stage.

“Match funding is a powerful tool that doubles the impact of public donations and builds long-term sustainability for charities doing vital work across the UK.”
