Accountancy firm’s fundraising challenges raise £1m for Teenage Cancer Trust

A series of fundraising challenges involving the founders of accountancy firm SRLV has raised £1m for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).

The challenges have included cycling from London to Paris, overseas cycle rides, taking part in the London Marathon and rowing the distance of the English Channel on the River Thames.

The final event, involving a 300-mile cycle from Cardiff to London took place earlier this month and raised £100,000. Profits from this final challenge have also been shared with the Urology Foundation.

Other events have included a cycle challenge to visit all 28 of the TCT’s UK units.

Those taking part are Laurance Finger and Richard Rosenberg, who set up SRLV during the 1980s, and Charles Bradbrook, a partner at the firm. Rosenberg is also a former TCT trustee.

Also involved were another SRLV partner Steve Wren, TCT trustee Ronnie Harris, and David Dodgson and Julian Frere from the fundraising team’s t-shirt sponsor The Private Office.

“Richard and the whole SRLV team have been nothing short of outstanding with their fundraising over the years,” said the charity’s chief executive Kate Collins.

“On behalf of everyone at the charity I’d like to say that we have all appreciated their unwavering support and dedication to the cause.

“Fundraisers like this allow us to continue to be there for young people with cancer when they need us most though units in NHS hospitals across the UK, and funded nurses and youth workers.”

Rosenberg added: “I became involved with Teenage Cancer Trust in 2003 when my wife, Meryl, was in remission from cancer and I had to simply give something back.

“It has been an honour to serve as a Trustee of such a fantastic charity and now is the time to return my lyrca and cycle helmet to the wardrobe.”
