Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity is partnering with professional services firm Gateley, which is headquartered in the city.
The hospital’s charity was selected as “the clear choice” to be its charity partner for the year following a vote among its 500 staff, said the firm, which focuses on legal and business support.
While the firm has supported different charities in previous year it had taken the decision to focus efforts on one good cause this year.
Staff will now undertake a variety of fundraising events and challenges to help Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s appeal to raise £3m to transform its entrance to be more welcoming area that promotes relaxation and reduces anxiety among children when they arrive.
“Each year we ask our colleagues to nominate local causes to support as part of our responsible business ethos and, this year, Birmingham Children’s Hospital was the clear pick of our team,” said Gateley real estate partner Rebecca Sherwin.
“It was incredibly inspiring to pay a visit to the hospital recently and hear about plans to transform the frontage and create an environment more befitting of the world-class care that patients receive daily when they are there.
“For many patients and their parents, the hospital becomes something of a second home, so it is imperative that their stays there can be as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
“Whilst we have supported the hospital in a variety of ways in previous years, we look forward to having them as our main charitable focus and playing our part in raising the crucial funds to make this dream a reality.”
Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity corporate partnerships manager Katie Harris added; “We’re incredibly excited and grateful to have been chosen as Gateley Birmingham’s charity partner.
“We care for around 100,000 sick children from across the city, region and UK every year and charity funds are vital in ensuring we can offer those patients and families the best possible experience while with us.”
