Energy producer Ørsted has officially opened a base of operations at its Hornsea Two Offshore wind farm. As Hornsea Two continues to undergo construction through 2022, the base will act as an office for the logistical project planning team, and a housing and storage space for workers and equipment. The company has repurposed a police station at the Humberside Airport for the base. The close access to the airport means that Ørsted will be able to more easily transport equipment and resources to and from the Hornsea Two site. Senior Project Manager Jason Ledden has said that the repurposing of the airport and recycling and utilisation of furniture and amenities from previous worksites has helped to ensure that the construction of the base remains sustainable.
