Humantix has appointed film star Hugh Jackman as its first head of impact as the Australian purpose driven ticketing platform expands into the UK and US.
The platform was created amid concerns around high booking fees, and pledges to donate all profits to charity.
Already in North America it covers 7,000 event organisers and has processed $150m in ticket sales this year in the region.
So far, the platform has donated more than £11m to good causes. It aims to boost this figure to £55m within five years.
Jackman will focus on “amplifying the company’s impact mission as it grows in the U.S. and internationally, helping bring broader awareness to a model that has already proven both commercially viable and socially transformative”.
The star of the X-Men movies said: “Most of us don’t think twice about ticketing fees or where the profits go.
“Humanitix flips that on its head by turning those fees into real impact for real people. It’s such a simple shift, but it has already changed tens of thousands of lives and has the potential to change millions more.”
Humantix co-founder Joshua Ross said: “Adding Hugh will help us spread the word to even more hosts and disrupt the industry, for good."
