Ferry company partners with animal charity

Red Funnel Ferries, which operates ferries to the Isle of Wight, has launched a charity partnership with Friends of the Animals.

The work of the charity, which is based on the island, will be supported by ferry company fundraising activity as its charity of the year for 2026. This will include collecting customer donations at ferry terminals and onboard.

Last year more than £42,000 was raised for the ferry firm’s previous charity of the year, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Friends of the Animals said: “We are incredibly grateful to Red Funnel and its colleagues for recognising the importance of animal welfare and the powerful bond between people and their pets.

“Knowing how much comfort, companionship and mental health support animals bring to people makes this partnership even more special.

“Our work supports a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs, wildlife and birds.”

The charity provides emergency veterinary treatment, ongoing care and practical support to families to support the health of their animals. Around 90 per cent of its work is carried out by volunteers.
