Aviva invests £400m in offshore

Aviva has invested in the world’s biggest wind farm, putting £400m of funds into the Hornsea project 1 that includes 174 giant turbines in the North Sea off the coast of East Yorkshire.

The deal is Aviva’s largest infrastructure debt investment to date and helps the organisation in meeting its target to invest £1bn in the wind farm sector by the end of the year.

Hornsea 1 is expected to have an installed capacity of 1.2 GW and is owned by Orsted (formerly Dong Energy ) and Global Infrastructure Partners(owners of Gatwick airport).
