A record 30% of materials shipped in Apple products, by weight, come from recycled sources, the tech giant has announced.
Its 2026 environmental progress report said that the record recycling of materials includes 100% recycled cobalt in Apple designed batteries and “recycled rare earth elements in every magnet”.
The report into progress towards its Apple 2030 goal of being carbon neutral also reveals that its greenhouse gas emissions have remained steady at 60% lower than 2015 levels. The tech giant said this is “holding constant from 2024 even in a year of significant business growth”.
Also, it has now achieved its aim of removing plastic from its packaging, with all products now shipped in fibre-based packaging, according to the report, which covers the 2025 financial year.
“Across every part of our business, we’re showing how innovation and collaboration can turn big ideas and bold ambitions into measurable progress,” said Sabih Khan, Apple’s chief operating officer.
“From expanding recycled material to removing plastic from our packaging, we’re setting new benchmarks that inspire us to reach further and work even harder for the good of people and planet.”
Also, this year Apple introduced the MacBook Neo, which has the highest recycled content and lowest carbon footprint of any of its MacBook products.
In addition, all eight of Apple’s data centres are certified to the Alliance for Water Stewardship Standard.
Apple CEO Tim Cook added: “At Apple, we believe deeply in leaving the world better than we found it, and that commitment runs across everything we do.
“These milestones in our work to protect the planet show that ambitious goals can also be powerful engines of innovation. And as always, we’ll keep pushing to build on this progress even more.”
