UK headquartered software company The Access Group has raised £1.55m for its chosen charities globally in the 12 months to the end of June this year.
Nine charities were involved across the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, the US and Malaysia.
In the UK the chosen charity was Young Lives vs Cancer. During the year of fundraising £1m was raised for the charity. This included more than 50 staff members taking part in a reverse bungee jump at the company’s head office in Loughborough, which raised £55,000.
Also in the UK, 26 employees raised £87,000 on a London to Amsterdam cycle, and others took part in a 130km trek around Loch Ness raising £84,000.
"We can't thank The Access Group enough for taking on all the challenges and raising an incredible amount of money to support young people with cancer,” said Young Lives vs Cancer chief executive Rachel Kirby-Rider.
“The Access Group's commitment, along with the efforts and generosity of everyone, has been so inspiring. Every year, over 4,000 children and young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. Young Lives vs Cancer relies on charitable donations to fund our vital work supporting children and young people facing cancer and their families.
“The money raised will make a significant difference, ensuring that children and young people with cancer receive the support they need. From all of us at Young Lives vs Cancer, thank you."
Other charities supported globally were National Organisation of Rare Diseases (NORD) in the US, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Beyond Blue in Australia, SUKA Society in Malaysia, Sir John Kirwan Foundation in New Zealand, United Way in Romania, Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation in Vietnam and the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind in Sri Lanka.
The Access Group’s chief employee success officer Caroline Fanning added: “"Every year, our people find new and extraordinary ways to give back. I am truly proud of the creativity, passion and unity shown across The Access Group worldwide.
“Raising £1.55million is a phenomenal achievement, and every effort has made a difference.”
