Over 900 Iceland Food is launching its Charity Week to raise £500,000 for Alzheimer's Research UK.
The retailer’s annual fundraising drive will take place between Saturday 8 June and Friday 14 June. Stores across the UK will host a range of fun activities to help raise funds for dementia research.
During the week, there’ll be over 900 teddy bears given to customers who correctly guess the name of the teddy in return for a donation.
The retailer will be also raising awareness of the cause by ‘going orange’ during the week. This will be to celebrate Alzheimer's Research UK’s powerful #ShareTheOrange campaign fronted by Bryan Cranston, which explains that a brain with Alzheimer’s can weigh 140g less than a healthy brain – about the weight of an orange. There’ll be lots of orange-themed fundraising taking place, along with some engaging activities to educate people about the cause.
Iceland Foods made a pledge to donate £1m to Alzheimer's Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity, this year. It is expected that half of that will be raised during Charity Week.
