Alun Williams, the UK’s longest serving building society chief executive, has pledged £25,000 to good causes to mark 25 years running the Swansea Building Society.
The funding will be handed out to charities and community organisations throughout the year and is in addition to the building society’s ongoing charitable giving, including supporting its 2026 charity of the year Prostate Cymru.
Williams, who is from Swansea, was appointed in 2001 at the age of 36 to run the building society.
“A Swansea native, Alun has remained committed to a local, community-first approach throughout his tenure,” said the building society.
Williams added: “As we mark this milestone, it felt important to recognise the communities that have supported the Society throughout its history.
“The additional £25,000 charitable fund is a way of giving something back and supporting organisations that make a genuine difference to people’s lives across Wales.”
