A fundraising campaign is taking place throughout August across the Proper Pubs chain that will see 5p from each sale of a pint of Carling donated to foodbanks throughout the UK.
The initiative is part of Proper Pubs campaigning to tackle food poverty, which includes pubs across its chain hosting fundraising events on National Foodbank Day in September.
So far the pub chain, which is part of Admiral Taverns, has raised enough to feed 1,300 people for a week.
“Supporting community initiatives such as local foodbanks is at the heart of everything we do here at Proper Pubs, especially in light of the current challenges affecting many people across the UK right now,” said Proper Pubs managing director Mark Brooke.
Les Willet, Carling brand director at its brewing company Molson Coors, added: “This initiative with Proper Pubs will help many individuals and families who rely on vital foodbank services.
“Pubs are a powerful force for good in their communities, and this campaign is a fantastic example of that spirit in action."
Other recent charitable initiatives by Proper Pubs have including donating 20,000 Easter Eggs and 16,000 advent calendars to communities impacted by poverty.
