Law firms dominate top employers for working families list

Law firms are dominating this year's list of the top ten best employers in the UK for working families, according to a charity’s annual report on flexible and family friendly employment practices.

Four of the top ten employers in the charity Working Families' list for 2025 are legal firms.

They are DAC Beachcroft, Hill Dickinson LLP, Mishcon de Reya and Pinsent Masons.

"Being recognised again as a top employer for working families means a great deal, said DAC Beachcroft manager partner David Pollitt.

“It’s a powerful acknowledgement of the important work we’re doing to create a supportive and inclusive workplace.”

Also in the top ten list are accountants Grant Thornton, North East London NHS Foundation Trust, Welsh Parliament, Independent Living Fund Scotland, Imperial College London and Audit Wales.

The report is based on the views of almost 300,000 employees across the UK.

The charity found that around nine in ten firms looked at carry out a job analysis of options for flexible working on some or all vacancies and actively encourage their managers to work in a flexible and family friendly way.

More than half go beyond the statutory minimum by enhancing carers leave, for an average of 5.3 days.

Almost all offer support for wellbeing and four in five view flexible working as a way of improving efficiency.

“The Top Employers are sending a powerful message that, when you’re willing to do the work, it’s possible to truly innovate for the benefit of the business,” said Working Families chief executive Jan van Zyl.

“With over half recognising the needs of carers by offering paid leave, they are showing that compassion can coexist with strategic business thinking.

“It's inspiring to see how these employers are putting into action their understanding that cultural shifts start from the top, that wellbeing at work matters, and the value of transparent flexible options.

“These are the changes we need if we’re going to build a resilient, motivated and agile workforce that is fit for the challenges of the future.”
