Energy Firm partners with health charity

EDF Energy has formed a year long partnership with health charity Asthma + Lung UK to support its customers with severe breathing difficulties.

During the year of activity, the charity will deliver seasonal health guides to the energy supplier’s customers who have breathing problems or who rely on medical equipment to manage their condition.

Customers will be signposted to the charity’s helpline and be targeted with resources and services to help them manage their condition, particularly during winter.

“Winter is the most difficult time of the year for people living with lung conditions like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or bronchiectasis because respiratory viruses, such as flu, drive up emergency hospital admissions,” said the charity’s chief executive Sarah Sleet.

“So, we’re pleased to launch this partnership as we go into the colder months, which will offer much needed support to people with lung conditions and breathing issues.

“The charity is delighted to be working with EDF Energy to help keep people healthy and out of hospital over the next year.

“A caring collaboration like this can make such a difference by providing the right help when people need it the most. Together we can help people feel safer, more supported and better equipped to live well this winter and beyond.”

EDG Energy process specialist Kieran Millet added: “After seeing how Asthma + Lung UK supports our customers with their services, we're extremely excited about this partnership.

“The charity has really opened our eyes to how much help is available to people with lung conditions, and we’re keen to promote its amazing services.

“We are looking forward to building on what we’ve already achieved and reaching out to more customers who will appreciate the additional support. We’re proud to be part of this journey.”
