Corporate partners wanted for rebranded environmental match funding campaign

Match funding platform Big Give is looking for more corporate partners to take part in its annual campaign for environmental charities, which is to be rebranded next year after raising a record £8.1m in 2025.

Green Match Fund raised the record sum this year through public donations matched by the platform’s funding partners, including the Reed Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, AKO Foundation and OVO Foundation.

This year’s campaign ran for a week and started Earth Day, the annual global environmental event which took place on April 22. The total for 2025 surpasses last year’s tally of £6.3m and is almost double the £4.3m raised in 2023.

More than 36,000 donations were made by the public to the 307 environmental charities taking part.

Big Give has revealed that next year’s event the campaign is to be rebranded as Earth Raise and will be backed by a live “cultural event blending live music, art, and environmental activism”.

Big Give chair and Reed chief executive James Reed is calling for more partners to be involved in the campaign, “particularly corporate sponsors”.

“Having smashed through the record-breaking £8m mark, we have bold ambitions to make the campaign, under its new Earth Raise name, the single biggest environmental fundraising campaign on the planet for the planet,” he said.

“Our goal is that Earth Raise Live will become the defining event for environmental fundraising.”

Since its launch four years ago the environmental match funding event has raised £23m.
Among charities supported are Friends of the Earth Charitable Trust, which benefitted from £223,599 in funding.

Others including Sustainable Food Trust, which received £221,230, and Rewilding Britain which gained £215,960 in funding.

Environmental Funders Network executive director Nick Gardner added: “Since the launch of the Green Match Fund, we’ve seen the incredible impact of strategic match funding in the environmental sector.

“It not only boosts income for vital charities but also builds awareness and community support.

“With Earth Raise, Big Give is taking this to the next level, blending ambition, creativity, and serious funding power to help tackle the environmental challenges of our time.”
